I began my journey with money at the age of 10 in St. Louis, where I collected payments from people who subscribed to newspapers. It wasn’t just about counting coins; I became skilled at counting the extra tips! Throughout high school and college, I continued working to support myself, which taught me valuable skills like listening to people, understanding them, and being good with numbers. After college, I landed a job at a well-known Fortune 500 company. I worked hard and eventually became the Director of Financial Reporting there. This was an exciting start to my career and led me into the financial services industry. I had the opportunity to work at different places like Merrill Lynch, Oppenheimer, and Wells Fargo Advisors. Finally, I fulfilled my dream of owning my own business, The JG McHugh Group.
Now, it’s been three decades since I started, and I still have a passion for what I do. Every morning, I’m delighted to help clients and advisors achieve their financial goals. The best part is when a client says, “John, thank you for helping us achieve our dreams!” That’s why I chose this career, and it’ the most fulfilling feeling in the world.
